Resting

Wife perspective; I think you may be noticing a trend, me. Shannon is just exhausted and so doing what he loves, writing, just isn’t happening. So you are only getting my perspective these days. Sorry.
The rest day was good. Being squatters in a quiet cul du sac away from T-Can and train noise was really nice. Shannon did a lot of resting which was obviously needed.
I got to enjoy a short lived taste of living near ‘distant’ friends and the option of walking to their home’s or biking over for a visit instead of a one way 45min drive Was so lovely. And getting breakfast of French toast, fruit and bacon delivered by a friend who we were now sharing a cul du sac with was a lovely perk to our rest morning.
No we aren’t entertaining moving. No matter where we live one of us would have to commute to work so Shannon takes that one for our team.
We packed up ourselves and headed out to the start of the evening run, just west of Richer. Two running club buddies were waiting and the trio of arete runners headed east on the side of the T-Can. So our adventure is also opening up new experiences to those that join us as well and a bunch of people have now gotten a taste of what it’s like to run or bike along the T-Can; most are not a fan and Now pray harder for our continued safety.
Well tonight the guys didn’t see a bear like the previous night but Gord’s side of the road treasures was certainly an interesting distraction. A fish hook, one water shoe, reusable bag, kitchen knife and pool noodle were the main items carried for awhile or taken home as a souvenir (only the fish hook lasted to souvenir status).
The guys ended at Sandilands Provincial Park and that will be the starting point for tomorrow’s AM run. Things are still a bit precarious or cautious in our camp as the runner is still battling nervous. But today moments of peace did occur and eating was done with some enjoyment  and at times eating took place because of mind over matter. Tonight after the 10miles he ate a whole can of beef stew; I am still out eating this guy ten to one but that is okay, Because last year was clear evidence food alone did not sustain him and I have hope it will be no different this year.

The plan was to sleep at cripple creek campground but apparently COVID causes them to closer earlier; whatever, probably good someone running across manitoba isn’t staying there anyway. After trying a total of 3 campgrounds we found one who’d gladly give us a site and even mentioned they’d seen us doing our adventure. and we are all setup for night.
Hey. I may get to bed before 10pm. I better type faster.

The mind is full. I almost forgot about this story until I saw the photo. Very far into the run, a mile or so from finishing a van pulls over ahead of us.  I don’t know anyone with that make of van but maybe they know one of the guys or Shannon and want to give a cheer. I bike past first and it’s a lone female occupant, I say hi and there is no acknowledgement. The guys walk by the passenger window and I guess she said something so the two support runners stop to chat with her. They very quickly ended the conversation and caught up with me & Shannon. I have a side view mirror on my bike and I notice the reverse lights go on. I then realize she is reversing after us and I keep warning the guys as she was getting awfully close. Not sure exactly how long she followed us but it wasnt a few feet, more like many meters. I guess she eventually realized she couldn’t woo any of the sweaty guys to take a ride with her and she eventually left without incident.
