Friday Night Date Night
Wife perspective; today has held things. Running, lots of running! But also another complication with Fleetwood which had us doing a bunch of driving to find a place to fill propane. In the final end we decided to wait till we are in falcon tomorrow to fill as that is the closest place anyway.
Today I feel Gord’s road side treasures would have collected some gems; full wiper blade, iPhone cable, towel, coder pin, flip flop and a reusable bag to carry it all.
My parents dropped off a tin of zoodles and a bunch of cans of A&W root beer. Grateful as we are out of tins unless Shannon is in the mood for canned tuna as that is the last tin in the RV. Was very curious what we’d eat for supper BUT that was something I was not to worry about.
The afternoon we were kind of in no great location to setup so we did so at the Eastbrain Tree church. Once we discovered our propane issue we did a bunch of driving and decided booking a site in Prawda made sense for the night once we were done the evening run; back tracking is part of this. BUT I noticed while biking the second leg to Shannon this evening that Cedar Creek listed on their motel sign an RV park. I tried calling twice, no not while I was driving fleetwood, when I was biking. Ya. Talk to Shannon and he will share in your displeasure of me using my cell while biking. Back to the story. We decided to pull in and inquire; sure enough they’ve got campsites within their unique motel, restaurant, cabin place. Their office is in their restaurant which closed at 8pm; I asked the owners if by chance they had any leftovers. HELLO. We just feasted on a rib dinner! Both of us. Shannon finished the whole meal Including both baked potatoes.
Okay. But I missed a part. As we wrapped up just over 10 miles I noticed a vehicle parked across the way from Fleetwood and it wasn’t moving. Dread. Apparently I need to work on my optimism. As we get closer a guy gets out of the driver side: I have NO clue who this is, but it became clear quickly he knew us or at least Shannon. One of Shannon’s bible study buddies & his lovely wife were on their way home from Westhawk and noticed Fleetwood and found the next place to u-turn and waited for us to show up. Wow! So kind. Another aspect to this story that has a YES all over it, Shannon had the energy and capacity to visit. He didn’t need to rush into the RV to lay down and he was able to make coherent sentences.
So tomorrow is tomorrow but there is a light growing larger and larger at the end of the tunnel we are in. 16 ish miles give or take till Ontario. Those numbers are in the right order. It’s wild.
