Thursday

Wife perspective; it’s 12:37pm as I start typing this. We are parked by the Sandilands discovery Center as the campground that was near by the end point this morning is closed. Oh well. We are far enough off the highway we can’t hear it and it seems this road is not well travelled. I do feel a bit like we are alone in the bush and when will we see other people again. I must be tired. Cause we just hung out with friends during this mornings run. I am eating leftovers from the gracious breakfast we got gifted yesterday. Shannon ate a whole can of chicken noodle stew and a jello cup before he feel asleep. Hey. Whatever he is willing to eat is good with me. I see him eating as a sign surrender is not winning.

This morning our departure from the campground had a delay; a toilet issue delay. Whew. So grateful we noticed it while at a campground so we could tackle it. Cheryl the staffer gave us a quick insider tip and it all got resolved, more like flushed. Rock Garden campground, good people. No idea why you’d ever make it a destination but if you ever need a place to camp while on a journey I’d say check in there.

We meet up with friends this morning who were up for a morning or participating in our adventure. Today the guys ran with the east bound traffic because westbound doesn’t have paved Shoulders, for like 25 km. The presence of friends and roadside cheerleaders is certainly helping this exhausted man to keep tackling miles. The kids were evening standing on the car roof hooting and hollering when the see the guys approaching.

No idea if more miles will get tackled later today. The morning run ended at the rest area on the way to Prawda. This is very fluid. The exhaustion is very real.
