Camping

The wife Perspective; I’d like to write about an overnight miracle, but I can’t because it’s not the case. Yes Shannon did get some more sleep but he’s still losing the battle on hope. A 5:30am meeting took place in our living room between Greg, Shannon and myself. Right now Shannon is just too weak to do anymore miles; today is a rest day. We are pretending we are on a summer camping trip (because who doesn’t find Brandon a summer destination, ha). Shannon is resting, drinking apple juice (an oz at a time) and obliging me by eating four blueberries or cherries at a time. Trying to keep everything in small, manageable goals.
Side note; in case your confused, the spray painted line is about 19 km’s west of our campsite here at Meadow Lark campground.

I so did not see this coming; I came prepared with food, bandaids, gauze, zipties, rain boots, sunscreen... because that’s what I thought we’d battle, a body breaking down from pavement miles not a body breaking down because of the mind. Safety was everyone’s thoughts, be safe; well so far that has not been an issue. Don’t push yourself too hard; meaning don’t pull a hammy or ruin your knees. No one thought, keep your mind clear and positive.

So I’ll sit here, on this yellow swing in the campground playground and enjoy the sunshine and work on my tan, cause I’m not driving Fleetwood anywhere today nor am I doing a bike relay.

That’s the update. Honesty abounds. And yes I believe in miracles, big and small but sometimes we don’t see them because we wanted something else. Trying to keep my eyes open and my heart receptive.
Side note; while the photos were loading for this post,  I noticed an old guy at my 2 o’clock practicing tai chi. I appreciate the levity but trying not to be caught starring or laughing
