But its a dry heat...
The wife Perspective; I laughed when I asked Shannon what title he wanted for this post. It’s an ongoing joke he has; one of those where people make it sound not worst case scenario. Example; while in Palm Springs people will say, ya it’s 30 degrees but it’s a dry heat. Ha. It’s still 30 degrees!!
Dang it was hot today and that’s coming from people who enjoy Death Valley California! One positive with the dry heat; our clothes sure did dry fast between runs. There were certainly some mixed moments today. While Shannon was stretching outside, beside Fleetwood, as I had her so nicely parked on Woodsnorth Road several miles east of Kola this morning for his second run of the day; he yells to get me outside. Well, we got to watch two young foxes frolicking and leaping over the road and in and out of the fields, around 7:30am. Shannon wants honesty to prevail; walking happened today, not because the legs were tired or the feet were sore, because of stomach cramps that kept showing up. But his determination most certainly got us to his planned location; Oak Lake, where we are bedding down for night at the Ox & Cart camp ground (so grateful for a regular sized shower and endless water to get clean)..
I can also say this; the shoulders on the T-Can (currently) are nice and wide. I could lay down and still have room to spare till the solid white line (yes I do know that I’m short, trying to give you all a visual). There are a LOT of nice drivers out there who do whatever they can to give us room. I saw MANY truckers (even hauling double longs, I was going to use work jargon but I figured the majority of you wouldn’t get it, so I improvised) be-line to the far lane to give us tons of space.
This is NOT easy. And yes we just completed the first full day; have mercy. We beyond appreciate all the prayers and love we have and are receiving. I keep praying for Shannon to be sustained; but with the little amount of food I could force feed him today, his sustenance with have to be Heaven given.
The Mr has been trying to sleep for awhile now and so he won’t be adding any of his thoughts. Just over 32 miles accomplished today and the alarm is set for the 4 am region tomorrow; we will see how tomorrow goes.
